      <image:title>Projects - Fountain</image:title>
<image:caption>Fountain Bitcoin mining rig Referencing Marcel Duchamp's 1917 landmark work titled Fountain, this sculpture contrasts Duchamp's removal of functionality from a common urinal and its subsequent transformation into a "readymade" work of art by combining disparate elements for the express purpose of imbuing them with a functionality that acts as the integral and activating medium for the sculpture. In both works form is dictated by functionality. As Duchamp's Fountain was originally meant to handle the flow of water and urine this Fountain was created to handle the flow of data and money. The advent of industrialized production of plumbing and the installation of public urinals in Paris in the 1880s signaled a paradigm shift that is echoed in the contemporary installation of copper wiring, computer processors and wi-fi today.</image:caption>

Designed to be a nationwide network of 1000 beehives, Haven provides safe homes for wild honeybees and raises public awareness of the importance of this pollinator, which makes possible 1/3 of the human food supply.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - Float</image:title>
<image:caption>Float is a placemaking intervention realizing the power of art to transform public space in subtle yet profound ways. With the installation of eight hammocks—devices that signal carefree summer leisure—Float transfigures the front lawns at the Kemper museum of Contemporary Art into a welcoming commons. The resulting atmosphere of openness (private/ public) and relaxation invites the public to a communal uplifting experience. The hammock’s vulnerability, a markedly unusual trait in the public realm, introduces a perceptible element of public trust as a vital element of the installation.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The aim of this collaborative socially engaged work is to investigate new ways field researchers can make precise digital images of insect specimens and use a custom pattern recognition algorithm to accurately identify and map species that are vectors for deadly diseases. The disease we focused on is called Chagas disease. Chagas is prevalent throughout Latin America and there are an estimated 100 million people at risk of infection. I took the above photo of a pop up blood screening clinic for the disease in Yucatán. The samples are taken by nurses working under the guidance of our partners in Mexico.</image:caption>
